BEAR DEN OF PACK 254 DELIVERS THE GOODS!!!!

The Bear Den of Pack 254 delivered the goods on Monday, March 26th, 2012; that is they delivered the canned goods that they, along with the other Dens at Pack 254, collected during the annual canned food drive competition to Rowan Helping Ministries in Salisbury.  The Bear Den delivered over 625 lbs of needed food to the Ministy. In addition to adding much needed food to the homeless  and less fortunate of Rowan County, the Bear Den were hosted by Cam Campbell, Director of Resource Development at Rowan Helping Ministries, who gave the Den a tour of the facilities.

The Bear Den learned about all the things Rowan Helping Ministries does in addition to providing food, clothing and shelter to folks who have found themselves in a situation many of them never thought the would find themselves; homeless.  There were alot of good questions and Cam was up to the task of providing answers.  In the future, Pack 254 will look for other opportunities to provide help to the needy in our community as we try to make our community a better place to live.  Thanks again Cam and Rowan Helping Ministries.  If you would like more information about Rowan Helping Ministries click on the following website:  http://www.rowanhelpingministries.org/

PACK 254 GOES TO SEE THE CHECKERS!!

On Saturday night (March 10th), members of Pack 254, along with their families, went to Time Warner Arena in Charlotte to watch the Charlotte Checkers Hockey team play.  For some, it was the first time they have had an opportunity to see a live hockey game.  For others, it was the first time they had ever seen the game of hockey played.  And still for a few, it was chance to enjoy a game that we enjoy watching on a more frequent basis.  No matter what the experience level was, everyone had a great time as we got together early for a "tailgate" feast which included Chic-Fil-A chicken nuggets and pizza provided by Nancy and Tommy Ratliff at Touchdown Pizza in Kannapolis.

Eventhough the Checkers lost the game 3-1, that didn't dampen the fun that we all had together.  Remember that you have another opportunity to join us when we go to see the Kannapolis Intimidators play baseball on April 21st.  Don't miss the fun when we again "tailgate" before the game.

BEAR DEN AT PACK 254 WINS THE CANNED FOOD COMPETITION!

Once again the members of this year's Bear Den won Pack 254's Annual Canned Food Competition! This is the same group that won last year when they made up the Wolf Den. Congratulations to these boys (and their parents) as they were treated to a pizza party at Touchdown Pizza in Kannapolis. Next stop is to deliver these canned goods to Rowan Helping Ministries and learn more about inidividuals who are less fortunate than most of us are and to learn more about how we can be good citizens and help those who are less fortunate. Great job!

PACK 254'S PINEWOOD DERBY 2012!

On Saturday, February 25th, 2012, Pack 254 held its annual Pinewood Derby at Bethpage United Methodist Church. Twenty-two members of Pack 254 participated in this year's Derby. First place was won by Webelos II Scout Kody Barringer. Wolf Den scout Joshua Storie won 2nd place and Webelos I Scout John Brown won 3rd place. Also winning awards for best paint, most original, best design and best built were Joshua Carver, Luke Brown, Harrison Shepherd and Weston Smith. It was a great day with alot good competition. I am most proud of the good sportsmanship that was exemplified by each and every Scout both during and after the competition. Good luck to all of you who plan to compete at the District Pinewood Derby next Saturday at the Carolina Mall. We look forward to seeing pictures and having a good showing from Cub Scout Pack 254!!

CUB SCOUT PACK 254'S ANNUAL CANNED FOOD DRIVE CONTEST

Pack 254 is once again hosting it's Annual Canned Food Drive Contest this year and it isn't too early to begin bringing in your canned food. Just like last year, the competition will be between the Dens to collect the most cans per member of the Den and the winning Den will once again be treated to a pizza party; this time it will be at Touchdown Pizza!!! Start bringing in your cans and turn them in to your Den Leaders who will let me know how many your Den collects each night. On November 21st at our Pack Meeting, I will announce the winning Den and I will work with the Den Leader to schedule your party. Ask your family friends, grandparents, neighbors and anyone you think might help us collect as many cans as we can.

All cans will be delivered to Rowan Helping Ministries. Let's make this the best contest/food drive we've ever had!!
